Waffles

I know of so many people, who love waffles, but don't make it at home as it required waffle maker. Since these waffle makers are just meant to make waffles, they don't seem to be worth buying. Well, I had those waffle trays that came along with the grill that my brother had gifted me way back. But I somehow didn't make it.

The fear of doing something wrong or just predicting it to be too tough to succeed or may be shear laziness, made me not to try them untill last year. And I seriously think I should have tried it earlier, to have extended our breakfast options. So easy, so filling and so yummy.

If you are a waffle lover and end up eating waffles multiple times from restaurants, then I would highly recommend getting a waffle maker to make these waffles at home and enjoy these with your family at the comfort of your own home.

Ingredients
  1. 1 cup of all purpose flour
  2. 1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  3. 1/4 tsp of salt
  4. 2 tbsp of granulated white sugar
  5. 1 large egg beaten, at room temperature
  6. 1 cup of milk at room temperature
  7. 2 tbsp of melted butter at room temperature
Method
  • In a bowl, add ingredients 1-4 and whisk it to get the ingredients distributed evenly.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs. Add milk and melted butter and beat it again.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix it all well, untill combined.
  • Preheat your waffle maker as per the instructions. Once preheated, grease the waffle trays with melted butter. Pour a ladle or two of batter(eyeball the amount as per the size of your waffle trays) on to the waffle, spreading or covering the cubes of waffle tray with batter. Smooth it out with the back of the ladle. Cover the waffle maker and cook it untill crisp and brown.
  • Remove it onto a plate and serve it with some maple syrup/ chocolate sauce and berries/fruits.
Tips
  1. Do not open your waffle maker for the initial 2-3 minutes of the cooking, else it would go shapeless and ruin the waffles.
  2. Waffles are best served warm. However, you could freeze it too and just reheat it in the oven.

  3. Waffles is basically pancakes done in a beautified shape... hehe... my first experience with the plain ones weren't good. Most of the recipes online use such a ridiculous amount of baking powder, like that you use just minimal and it still looks fluffy...
